Perhaps the biggest and most well known comic cataloguing software on the planet — ComicBase — has always been cross platform. No, I don’t mean it’ll running on XP and 95 – I mean they’ve always made a MacOS and Windows version. The biggest problem for them was when Apple switched to OS X. It meant that they would have to rewrite their whole application in Objective C, a new language which is much easier to work with than C or C++, and is designed from the ground up with object orientation in mind, rather unlike C++ which is basically a hack of C.

Regardless of all the technical crap, here is their whining press release.

It has taken them 5 years to come up with this stance. In all those 5 years, what have they been doing? Sitting around boo-hooing that they can’t learn another language because they’re too stupid?

Give it another year or two you tossers and you’ll HAVE to port your entire Windows program to .NET if you want to continue getting support from Microsoft. But they won’t. They’ll hold out as long as possible and have a program which looks as out of place on Windows as your typical pure-java application does now, and then they’ll probably give up entirely claiming that Microsoft has mothballed them into a development environment they can’t cope with.

That’s a sure sign of professional developers! Can’t cope with the change.

Now there’s room in the Mac market for some software to overtake ComicBase. Well, there has been for the last few years, but nobody has done it yet.

The best alternativve for Mac users, Linux users, and Windows users who can’t stand whiney developers is Comics Price Guide. I’d still be using them except you have to pay via PayPal and PayPal cut my account off when they saw it was linked on one of my porno sites. My own fault for not reading the guidelines. Shit happens.

My friend Carrie got married yesterday and the whole event was a fantastic medieval themed wedding. Naturally, I went as the Executioner, but everyone went all out which was just amazing to see.

The Groom even had to challenge her father in a series of duels to win her hand. There was no room for jousting or sword fights, so they settled for the gauntlet — arm wrestling :)

When and if I get Flickr working, I’ll post a couple of photos to this post.
